Commander of an over 1,000-member civil-military Task Force comprised of an Infantry Battalion and several other military and civilian agency support teams that is forwardly deployed in Paktya Province, Afghanistan, Regional Command-East. Charged with conducting counterinsurgency and combat operations along multiple lines of effort in support of Afghan National Security Forces and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. Responsible for the training, discipline, morale, welfare, and safety of all Soldiers and civilian support operating within the Task Force's area of operations. Maintains operations management, human resource management, sustainment, and communications systems to ensure the organization is able to sustain itself and manage steady-state operations. Ensures the Task Force's operations are fully nested within the brigade commander’s campaign plan.

Served as the senior US adviser to to an Afghan National Army Infantry Battalion Commander forwardly deployed in Paktya, Afghanistan, Regional Command-East conducting combat and counterinsurgency operations. Provides oversight and mentoring on command issues to include personnel management, logistics support, operations and training in a counterinsurgency environment. Developed a combined joint partnership with Afghan National Security Forces, coalition forces and interagency partners. Sets the conditions for successful development of a Afghan National Army Battalion engaged in counterinsurgency operations in support of higher headquarters objectives. Ensures the tactical and technical applications to ensure the safety and security of US and Afghan personnel and equipment. Led a sixteen Soldier Team and was responsible for over two million dollars worth of US government equipment.
